Can a tenant have a two year lease in the state of Florida? The surprising answer is yes!! Contrary to belief, under Florida law, landlords and their tenants can enter into residential lease agreements for any duration. Their lease term can exceed one year, but Landlords must comply with the common law statue. Two year leases must be in writing and must have two witnesses sign the lease, as well and Landlord and Tenant. However, Florida Realtor licensees are required to use the Supreme Court approved fill in the blank lease which is limited to ONE year only! All of our lease are drawn up by an attorney. Law Offices of Heist, Weisse & Wolk P.A. provide our leases and are available for any questions or issues that arrive during the duration of the lease. Our goal is to always protect the interest of the Landlord and the Tenant.
